Torrential downpours hit parts of southern Spain on September 23, 2021, causing severe flash flooding in the province of Huelva.

The floods inundated homes and swept away vehicles in the cities of Huelva and Lepe, and caused more than 600 emergency interventions.

According to the Andalusian Meteorological Agency, parts of the province received as much as 100 mm (3.9 inches) of rain in a 12-hour period on September 23.

According to AEMET, the town of Cartaya recorded 118 mm (4.6 inches) in 24 hours, with 112.4 mm (4.42 inches) in just 1 hour.
