National AT&T service outage leaves customers unable to call 911

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office made a social media post claiming some AT&T customers may not be able to contact 911 due to a nationwide outage.

TCSO says people in need of emergency services can dial 706-883-1700 to reach 911.

Downdetector.com, a website for people to find outages for several different services, shows a spike in mobile phone outage reports for AT&T across the country.

Several people have taken to social media to post about the outage, however AT&T has not made a social media post about the issue at this time.

While no social media posts have been made, The Mobile Report, a website dedicated to covering phone news, says the outage was caused by a software issue.
