Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), tweeted on Monday night abortion will \u201cnow\u201d become the \u201ccentral choice\u201d in the November midterms after&nbsp;<em>Politico<\/em>&nbsp;leaked a&nbsp;draft of a Supreme Court opinion that would overrule&nbsp;<em>Roe v. Wade.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRepublicans just gutted&nbsp;<em>Roe v Wade<\/em>, the Constitution\u2019s guarantee of reproductive freedom, and will ban abortion in all 50 states if they take over Congress,\u201d Maloney&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/spmaloney\/status\/1521303651771367429?s=20&amp;t=BjOvj0VgX2Sq60wYA4qb8Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cOnly Democrats will protect our freedoms. That is now the central choice in the 2022 election.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Politico<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/02\/leaked-supreme-court-opinion-overruling-roe-v-wade\/\">published<\/a>&nbsp;what claims to be the first draft of an opinion that would&nbsp;overrule&nbsp;<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>&nbsp;but is not binding unless at least five judges sign it. Despite the leak, at this time, the case before the court,&nbsp;<em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, is still pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oral arguments were heard last year, and the\u00a0decision was not expected\u00a0until the end of the Court\u2019s term in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sen. The midterms usually play\u00a0as a referendum on the president\u2019s political party, which may not be good for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Joe Biden has seen low approval ratings after being in office for over a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biden\u2019s presidency has been marred by the consequences of poor decision-making on his part, such as the supply chain\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/10\/19\/record-breaking-100-ships-anchored-waiting-at-los-angeles-and-long-beach-ports\/\">crisis<\/a>, record-high\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/04\/12\/u-s-inflation-jumped-8-5-in-past-year-highest-since-1981\/\">inflation<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/28\/pentagon-releases-names-of-the-13-service-members-killed-in-kabul-attack\/\">botched<\/a>\u00a0Afghanistan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/22\/state-department-americans-afghanistan\/\">withdrawal<\/a>, and the skyrocketing price of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/04\/12\/bidenflation-energy-prices-soar-32-overall-in-the-last-12-months\/\">oil and gas<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/04\/12\/bidenflation-american-families-face-steeply-higher-food-prices\/\">everyday goods<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Democrats candidates in the Senate have already used the draft opinion&nbsp;as talking points in campaign statements following the Monday night\u2019s leak to try and leverage the upper chamber and&nbsp;Senate Majority Leader Chuck&nbsp;Schumer (D-NY)&nbsp;to eliminate the&nbsp;filibuster and codify the woman\u2019s right to an abortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years \u2013 not just on women but on all Americans,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSchumer\/status\/1521328057767890946\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Schumer in a joint statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSeveral of these conservative Justices, who are in no way accountable to the&nbsp;American people, have lied to the U.S. Senate, ripped up the Constitution and&nbsp;defiled both precedent and the Supreme Court\u2019s reputation.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/05\/GettyImages-1240419328.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, it is unclear what the Democrat leaders are referring to as a \u201clie,\u201d since no\u00a0justice has ever said during their confirmation hearings that they would not overrule\u00a0<em>Roe v Wade.<\/em>\u00a0In fact, there is also no polling yet to\u00a0support their argument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery Republican Senator who supported Senator McConnell&nbsp;and voted for Trump Justices pretending that this day would never come will now have to explain themselves to the American people,\u201d the Democrat leaders added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/05\/GettyImages-1240419268.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House Democrat\u2019s campaign chief, Rep.
