{"id":36558,"date":"2022-10-10T13:46:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-10T20:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cww7news.com\/?p=36558"},"modified":"2022-10-10T13:46:04","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T20:46:04","slug":"pmorgans-jamie-dimon-warns-u-s-likely-to-tip-into-recession-in-6-to-9-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cww7news.com\/pmorgans-jamie-dimon-warns-u-s-likely-to-tip-into-recession-in-6-to-9-months\/","title":{"rendered":"PMorgan\u2019s Jamie Dimon warns U.S. likely to tip into recession in 6 to 9 months"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/JPM\/\">JPMorgan Chase<\/a>&nbsp;CEO&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carbon.cnbc.com\/10000222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jamie Dimon<\/a>&nbsp;on Monday warned that a \u201cvery, very serious\u201d mix of headwinds was likely to tip both the U.S. and global economy into recession by the middle of next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimon, chief executive of the largest bank in the U.S., said the U.S. economy was \u201cactually still doing well\u201d at present and consumers were likely to be in better shape compared with the 2008 global financial crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut you can\u2019t talk about the economy without talking about stuff in the future \u2014 and this is serious stuff,\u201d Dimon told CNBC\u2019s Julianna Tatelbaum on Monday at the JPM Techstars conference in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the indicators ringing alarm bells, Dimon cited the impact of runaway inflation, interest rates going up more than expected, the unknown effects of quantitative tightening and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/10\/10\/russia-ukraine-live-updates.html\">Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese are very, very serious things which I think are likely to push the U.S. and the world \u2014 I mean, Europe is already in recession \u2014 and they\u2019re likely to put the U.S. in some kind of recession six to nine months from now,\u201d Dimon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His comments come at a time of growing concern about the prospect of an economic recession as the Federal Reserve and other major central banks raise interest rates to combat soaring inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to CNBC last month, Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/09\/27\/feds-evans-nervous-about-going-too-far-too-fast-with-rate-hikes.html\">said<\/a>&nbsp;he\u2019s feeling apprehensive about the U.S. central bank going too far, too fast in its bid to tackle high inflation rates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JPMorgan Chase&nbsp;CEO&nbsp;Jamie Dimon&nbsp;on Monday warned that a \u201cvery, very serious\u201d mix of headwinds was likely to tip both the U.S. and global economy into recession by the middle of next year.
