{"id":38164,"date":"2023-07-15T15:43:03","date_gmt":"2023-07-15T22:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cww7news.com\/?p=38164"},"modified":"2023-07-15T15:43:04","modified_gmt":"2023-07-15T22:43:04","slug":"unprecedented-civil-resistance-mass-rallies-saturday-open-28th-week-of-protests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cww7news.com\/unprecedented-civil-resistance-mass-rallies-saturday-open-28th-week-of-protests\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Unprecedented civil resistance\u2019: Mass rallies Saturday open 28th week of protests"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tens of thousands of Israelis were expected to join protests across the country on Saturday night as demonstrations against the government\u2019s plans to overhaul and constrain the judiciary entered their 28th week and protest leaders promised \u201can unprecedented week of civil resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anti-government opposition has stepped up in recent weeks as the coalition pushes ahead with plans to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/rothman-looking-to-push-through-reasonableness-bill-by-beginning-of-next-week\/\">&nbsp;pass the \u201creasonableness\u201d bill,&nbsp;<\/a>aimed at preventing courts from invalidating or even discussing government and ministers\u2019 decisions based on their \u201creasonableness.\u201d It intends to pass the bill into law by month\u2019s end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday\u2019s mass demonstrations come in addition to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/anti-overhaul-protesters-call-day-of-resistance-for-monday-rally-near-pms-homes\/\">\u201cday of resistance\u201d<\/a>\u00a0called for Tuesday, with organizers planning protest action and road blockings across the country, and further disruptive actions taking place throughout the week.
