Josh Green Indicated Number Would Drop Below 100"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Three hundred eighty-five people remain missing after the devastating Maui fires, authorities updated Friday as recovery efforts continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of missing individuals had nearly stayed the same since the week before, Fox News\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/385-missing-maui-fires-dem-governor-indicated-100\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outlet also reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Maui Police Department said 245 people on the missing persons list validated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation were found and located. However, a nearly equal number of new names were added, bringing the total down from 388 to 385 missing, a net change of just three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The updated total was a startling departure from what had been expected \u2014 a day earlier Gov. Josh Green said he believed the number would fall below 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re heartsick, but we\u2019re still seeing the number of unaccounted for individuals drop,\u201d Hawaii Gov. And that\u2019s what goes on in this day and age,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, a resident heading up a grassroots relief effort to help victims of the fire that destroyed the town of Lahaina told Breitbart News that search crews allegedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/08\/31\/exclusive-maui-resident-more-than-450-bodies-allegedly-recovered-from-wildfire-and-lot-of-kids-still-missing\/\">found<\/a>\u00a0more than 450 bodies, the outlet reported Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI guarantee you right now, from what has been seen, the number is over 450, and it\u2019s gonna get \u2014 it\u2019s gonna get closer to 1,000,\u201d Maui resident Dale Hermo-Fernandez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breitbart News&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/08\/28\/seven-failures-that-contributed-to-maui-fire-tragedy\/\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;Monday that additional information continues to surface about the likely factors that resulted in the deaths of so many people, including children, in Lahaina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome of the factors were known years or months in advance, such as the risk of nonnative grasses, while others were known days in advance of the fire, which so far has officially claimed at least 115 people, with search efforts still underway,\u201d the outlet said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three hundred eighty-five people remain missing after the devastating Maui fires, authorities updated Friday as recovery efforts continue.
