Louisiana suffered a record-breaking number of 441 fires between August 1 to August 24, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tiger Island Fire in Louisiana was the largest<\/a> in the state\u2019s history, burning over 33,000 acres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is unprecedented. We\u2019ve never had to fight this many fires simultaneously and at this duration. We\u2019re fighting between 25 and 30 [wildfires] today,\u201d said Mike Strain, the commissioner for Louisiana\u2019s Department of Agriculture and Forestry. \u201cIt\u2019s burning very intensely. It\u2019s moving pretty fast, and you can feel the air picking up. That\u2019s from the heat of the fire sucking air into the fire,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
