General Assembly in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will evaluate the situation, and if needed we will part ways with the EU.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was responding to a question about a recent report adopted by the European Parliament, which stated \u201cthe accession process cannot resume under the current circumstances, and calls on EU to explore \u2018a&nbsp;parallel and realistic framework\u2019 for EU-T\u00fcrkiye relations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkey applied to join the European Union in 1999, and accession talks began in 2005.
