(The Daily Fetched) Following Kevin McCarthy\u2019s ouster filed by Florida Republican Matt Gaetz on Tuesday, a growing number of Republicans are declaring support for former President Donald Trump as Speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McCarthy\u2019s GOP colleagues and House Democrats voted to oust him by 216-210.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McCarthy<\/a> became the first House speaker in American history to be ousted by a motion to vacate, spending less than nine months in office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McCarthy angered many after striking a with Democrats to avoid the government shutdown.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Not long after McCarthy was ousted, Representative Patrick McHenry of North Carolina was named acting Speaker, a position he will hold until a new speaker is elected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McCarthy announced on Tuesday that he won\u2019t be running for the gavel again as speculation mounts on who will replace him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI believe I can continue to fight, maybe in a different manner,\u201d McCarthy said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI will not run for speaker again, I\u2019ll have the conference pick somebody else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, a growing number of Republicans are calling for Trump to replace McCarthy as Speaker of the House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no requirement that the Speaker must be a House member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, a move to elect Trump would be historic and unprecedented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During his Fox News<\/a> show on Tuesday, Sean Hannity suggested Trump could be brought in as a Speaker to replace McCarthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSources telling me at this hour that some House Republicans have been in contact with, and have started an effort to draft, former President Donald Trump to be the next speaker and I have been told that President Trump might be open to helping the Republican party, at least in the short term,\u201d Hannity said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, Trump\u2019s former White House strategist and War Room host, Steve Bannon said a move to elect Trump as Speaker would \u201cbring this party together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The notion wasn\u2019t lost on Infowars\u2019 Alex Jones, who said, \u201cDonald Trump should be nominated as a litmus test on these Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith all the fake charges and all the fake trials, how awesome would it be to make Donald Trump Speaker of the House?\u201d Jones added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani also called for Trump to become Speaker in a post<\/a> on X:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPresident Donald Trump for Speaker of the House?\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
